The Homecoming Dance will be in the commons immediately following the game until midnight this Friday night. Tickets are on sale daily during the 2nd half of lunch in the aux gym hallway and are $10 each. Students bringing a guest from another high school and is no older than 20 must fill out an out of school guest form and turn those in to the office by Wednesday, September 21st. Tickets WILL be sold at the dance, but buying tickets ahead of time allows for quicker entry.

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s (HHF) 2022 Youth Awards educational grants program is now accepting applications! The 24th Annual Youth Awards will award students who are in the graduating Class of 2023 with up to $4000 in educational grants to fund their higher education or to fund a community-based project. To be considered, students must meet the following criteria: Be currently enrolled in high school and graduating in the spring of 2023. Must have a minimum unweighted 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or 7.5 on a 10.0 scale. Must enroll at an accredited higher education institution in 2023-2024. Be of Hispanic heritage (includes Spain, Brazil, Philippines). If selected, attendance at the virtual ceremony is mandatory. The deadline to apply is November 13th, 2022. The Jefferson Scholars Foundation is pleased to announce they are now accepting nominations for the Jefferson Scholarship at the University of Virginia. Please see Mrs. Morris by September 30th if you are interested in being nominated. Middle Range Scores (50%) for SAT are: 690-750 English/ Reading and Math is 700-780. Middle Range Scores (50%) for ACT are 32-35. Jefferson Scholarships provide the entire cost of attendance at the University of Virginia and many supplemental enrichment experiences. The total value of the Scholarship exceeds $333,000 for non-Virginian students. Seniors: If you have a 3.0 GPA or better, you could apply for the Heisman Scholarship. Total requirements are listed online, but you must have participated in grades 9, 10, & 11 in one of the sports recognized by the National Federation of State High School Association. Mr. Batman, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Stewart, and Ms. Campbell are starting a travel group called "Wild and Wonderful Adventures." This group will plan trips to show just how much fun traveling can be, even in West Virginia! Possibilities include but are not limited to hiking, fishing, kayaking, zip-lining, etc. Students can also check out information about our travels overseas during this time. They will meet during the second half of lunch every other Friday (starting next Friday, Sept. 9th) in Mr. Batman's room, Room 109.

The purpose of this club is to promote school spirit and community involvement at extracurricular events. Pep Club's mission is for students to become more engaged in school activities. This club is student ran and will promote school spirit by showing sportsmanship, commitment, and positivity. We will be working with administration, Student Council, and coaches to create fun ways support our student body throughout the school year. What Will I Do? The first thing you should know is that this is more than just an extra-curricular activity. Being a member of Pep requires a commitment of your time to meet both at school, and attend school events. It is extremely important that you know being a member means you will represent WHS in a positive manner. For those interested, will meet the second week of school to go over details. If you are interested in becoming an officer, please submit a letter of interest to Mrs. Chandler and Mrs. Harper via email.
