Internet access is available to Putnam County Schools students outside of any of our school buildings using regular school WiFi or WVKidsConnect WiFi.

The Kids Connect Initiative is designed to support the learning needs of children during time outside of school hours. By installing the necessary equipment, public schools, higher education institutions, libraries and state parks with existing connectivity will be turned into WIFI hotspots. The signals will be broadcast into parking lots and locations in close proximity allowing students to visit these areas and access the WIFI to complete school assignments.

  • If a browser does not automatically open, open a browser
  • Read and accept the Terms of Use
  • Click the "Continue to Internet" button

Putnam County Schools students and staff will use the learning management system (LMS), Schoology, for the 2020-21 school year. Schoology will house assignments, communication, and grades for all students.

Along with student access, parents/guardians can also make an account using a code that ties their account to their student(s). Families can view all assigned work, due dates, instructional videos/materials, grades, and communication that their student receives.

Families served by Putnam County Schools have the opportunity for school day and evening technology support. The Technology Support Hotline is available to address questions that arise regarding the use of devices and for assistance with Schoology.

This service is available during the school day, Monday-Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Beginning May 3, 2021, and through the remainder of the school year, the Technology Support Hotline will be available Tuesday-Thursday evenings from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm by calling 304-586-4946.

School Device Coverage (SDC) Insurance Services is offering families the opportunity to protect their child's technology devices with insurance coverage through SDC.

SDC will offer insurance services/coverage, including:

  • Broken glass screen
  • Charger port failure
  • Theft
  • Device disappearance
  • Broken LED/LCD displays
  • Accidental damage
  • Power surge, fire, and flood
  • Water damage
  • Loss
  • Vandalism
  • Touchscreen failure
  • Electrical failures

If a claim has been filed and the device will need repair, the student would bring the device to the school. The PCS technology department will make arrangements thereafter.

PCS has issued two models of HP devices at this time, the HP Stream and HP 360. Students that were issued an HP device will not purchase insurance. PCS will be upgrading the HP machines to Lenovo.
